JoJo Mason, Meghan Patrick and The James Barker Band party at Knoxville's Tavern

Knoxville's Tavern in Edmonton was the place to be as Canadian Country Superstars hit the stage on Wednesday night.  With a lineup of 2017 Canadian Country Female Artist of the Year Meghan Patrick, Canadian Country Music Group James Barker Band, and multi-talented Singer/Songwriter JoJo Mason there was a party going on.  How could it be a miss when all three were nominated for the 2017 CCMA Rising Star award.

The Headliner for the night The James Barker Band currently on a Canada Wide tour, and having performed on the 2017 CCMA Country Music Awards show in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, these guys put on a show.

It was non-stop fun from the time they hit the stage.  Energetic James Barker Band shows why they are heading up in the world of Canadian Country Music.

Having charted 4 Canadian Country top 10's and 1 number 1 hit "Chills" off their first Album - "Game On", they are taking the Country Music industry by storm.

In between the guys there is the current CCMA Female Country Artist of the Year in Canada, Meghan Patrick,  with her current number 1 hit on the charts and radio play everywhere, "Country Made Me Do it" is packing them in where ever she performs.  This lady is everything Country music is about, with only one album she has taken the Canadian Country industry by storm and is taking no prisoners.  She has the sass, that smile that takes you into her world, and even being the current Leading Lady of Canadian Country Music she still has time to visit with fans and say hi after her show.

This show was no different it had everything and went from straight forward to full blown country mayhem.  Her sets remind you of another Country artist that can have that sass and fun all while entertaining Miranda Lambert.  Meghan Patrick's show is one not to miss.

Oh Just in case you didn't notice, Meghan took the Rising Star award away from the guys this year.

In an industry, that is ever evolving, it's great to see that these three artists are heading in the right direction for the future.

Over All the Show was 5 guitars out of 5, only because that is all there is, it would be 6 if we had 6....

you definitely can't go wrong with any one of these artists but all 3 in one place you can't afford to miss the show.

Nice Horse gets Rowdy at Cook County Saloon

They have been described as the girl version of Zac Brown, but in skirts and I would say they are one of the best new sounds in Canadian Country Music.  It's not too often you come across an all girl group that from the moment you hear them, you know they are going somewhere. Sure enough, right after their performance at Cook County Saloon to kick Rodeo week off in Edmonton, they found out they had placed in the Top 3 of the Project Wild - Country Artist Development competition.

Nice Horse started in a garage only 2 years ago and now are on the radar of country music lovers across the country.   Having just come off their radio tour of Ontario and Western Canada, promoting their new album, "There Goes the Neighbourhood", these Alberta natives Kaley, Katie, Brandi and Krista are out to turn the stables on what is known the boys club in country music.  From the first single "Pony Up" to their new feminist anthem “Mansplainin’” these 4 song writer/artists are embarking on a new country world and they are taking no prisoners.

Their shows are fun,  energetic, hopping and competitive affairs.  When front lady Katie introduces the band, you know they are a fun bunch of girls who like to pull a few pranks along the way and apparently have stories to go along with it.  If you haven't seen these amazing artist you have to get out and check 'em out, as the horse has left the stable and they are ripping up the field up and tearing up the turf as they take stride in overrunning Canada with their Kick Up Sassy Country Style.

Just Remember not only Rocker Girls just want to have fun, Nice Horse Girls Just want to have fun, and want you to have fun too.

Boot Scootin' Boogie DanceHall opens with live Country Music in Edmonton

Edmonton's Boot Scootin' Boogie Dancehall is getting rave reviews

Garret Gregory brought his show to the Boot Scootin' Boogie DanceHall, as part of their soft opening for the latest Country Music Venue in  Edmonton.  Even a special visit from Brad Sims had the dance floor hopping all night.

From a couple of the posts on Facebook:

"Amazing job on transforming the venue! Great to see so many familiar faces in one place! It was a fantastic night"

" Best dance floor I've ever danced on"

"The floor was so smooth and the band was outstanding. Lots of people having so much fun was great to see. Did I say the band was fantastic? "

The reviews have been all positive, especially when you consider the location has been a country venue for over 30 years, Boot Scootin' Boogie DanceHall is located at the old Wild West Location at 12912 - 50 st NW and will have live music every weekend.  The feature of the room is the brand new dance floor and upgraded sound and lighting, it is definitely going to be a force to be reckonned within the country music scene in Edmonton.
Every one got on the dancefloor including Garret Gregory and Brad Sims, to some amazing dancers both young and old.

What is special about the Boot Scootin' Boogie Dancehall is that it is a Recreation facility therefor is allowed to have all ages until early evening, opening a new generation of country music lovers to the dancehall experience.

The Next couple of weeks October 20th, David Leigh, October 21 - Candace Brown, October 28th - Cat Country, November 10th - The Offical Grand Opening with Bronca Billy.

Boot Scootin' Boogie Dancehall claims to have the hottest dance floor and if the first night was any indication, they may have under estimated themselves.

From the Edmonton Happenings crew we give this 4.5 Banjos out of 5, we have to keep an eye on this live music venue, as it grows into a major force in Country Music in Edmonton.
