Early Morning Fire engulfs South Edmonton Home 11 days Before Christmas

If there is one thing you don't want to be woken upto hear is the sound of sirens coming into your community.  Yet that is exactly what happened this morning at 3:45 AM in the Meadows community of South Edmonton.  Unfortunately, it wasn't a false alarm.

Edmonton Fire responded to a house fire in the community of the Meadows in south east Edmonton this morning at 3:45 am.  The 2 alarm blaze had fully engulfed one home and caused damage to the outside walls of the 2 homes on either side of the home.

Silver Berry Rd. was closed for over 2 hours while fire crews put out the fire and protected the other homes from catching fire. At approximately 6:55 am crews were called back again as smoke began to billow across Silverberry again from one of the 3 homes.

The initial home was destroyed and there was heavy charring to the 2 homes beside the burned out home.

Fire investigators were still trying to determine a cause and remained on the scene.

Top Attendance at Canadian Finals Rodeo ends 44 year run at Northlands Colliseum

Edmonton, AB November 12, 2017 - The Canadian Finals Rodeo ended a 44 year run at Northland's Coliseum on Sunday. Starting in 1973, the Canadian finals Rodeo has been the goal of the season for every Cowboy and Cowgirl competitor.  With over 1.5 million in prizing it is one of Canada's largest prize pool for Rodeo, and crowns the annual champions in each of the rodeo events. With over 90,000 in attendance there was no sign of the Canadian Finals Rodeo waning when it comes to the support for the CFR.

The past and future were recognized throughout the 5 day 6 event running of CFR 2017.  From the first champions to those that have worked every CFR since 1973.  There were fans from 1 to 91 in attendance and many had been to every rodeo at Northlands.
